We appreciate you taking the time to review our website. Below is a quick summary of what you will find here at ApproachAvoid.com:
First, A Dedication
My name is Brad Lehman and I am the Editor of this site. The work being done here is in dedication to my late son Jack Lehman. You can read more about this dedication below.
Three Areas of Focus:
1. Introducing Approach and Avoid Concepts
The topic of Approach Avoid is so large that a website really cannot do it full justice. As such, you will find a few selected areas of Approach and Avoid that will be covered here. Over time, we will be adding additional content to this site. Along with individual Approach/Avoid, we will also discuss Big Picture (Global Approach/Avoid) topics. We feel it is important to understand how Big Picture events impact individual Approach/Avoid behavior.
2. Teaching Detached Observation Thinking Skills
To improve understanding of the concepts covered, we will focus on presenting Detached Observation Thinking Skills as an important part of this site. Our human perception is limited and how we learn and act is based on current inputs along with our past experiences. Doing what we can to step away from ourselves can help us better understand the world and improve it.
3. Mapping Services - Teaching how to Map Approach/Avoid to Improve Human Experiences
Taking both the concepts of Approach/Avoid along with using Detached Observation, Mapping Services are offered here to help you establish objectives for your organization and for individual personal achievement. You will find free templates you can use along with the option to hire us to help you improve human experiences for customers, employees, organizations, patients, students, fans, communities, and more. Personal mapping services are also offered.
Lastly, expect this site to constantly evolve. It is a work in progress. Currently, it has the basic framework to get up and running and you can be a part of the process to see it grow and flourish.
We encourage feedback and invite you to contact us with any questions, comments, or ideas to assist us.
Also, if you work in the area of Approach and Avoid - Human Perception, we encourage you to get in touch with us.

Imagine a satellite hovering over your organization collecting data. Skip the predictions, emotions, and human element. Now take this satellite and focus on the human experience to better learn why we Approach or Avoid the inputs of life. We look to take this far view of human life to better understand it and to make positive improvements.
We want to understand human behavior with this detached view. As we collect data, we are not afraid to change conclusions of previous thoughts and decisions. It is all about the data and making improvements by Mapping the Experience.
Throughout this site you will see the following:
DO:
When you see this, it is a Detached Observation of what is currently being presented.
Like a Map on your phone to get to a destination, we look to make maps to improve human experiences and efficiency. Because the human brain is dark and we as humans are constantly trying to understand it better, having a detached view will help you make better positive improvements.
Hello, as mentioned above, my name is Brad Lehman and I am the editor of this website. You will find my research into Approach and Avoid along with other bits of information I have collected along the way and shared with you on how to take this information to improve organizations and individual experiences.
My work on Approach - Avoid was started to help my son Jack, myself, and others by learning more about the Brain, and developing better Self and Society Awareness. Sadly, I lost Jack and the work of this website is dedicated to him.
If you are reading this, you have the time today to improve life for yourself and others by learning more about Approach - Avoid and taking Action. Explore this site and follow the Blog.
My interest in Society Awareness came from my experience being a Bond Trader. Getting an in-depth understanding of the world was important for the position. You will see a lot of that learning in the Big Picture page and Blog. I also have had interest in Customer Service - my current field of work.
The Detached Observation focus came to life as I asked the question, why do two people not see the world the same and can be in total opposite ends on thoughts and issues? Being detached helped discover how and why this is. You will learn more as you explore this site and the attached blog.
I appreciate that you are taking the time to review this site!
